CLASS UPDATE
Students have been working on their workbooks for the last several classes and we have spent a lot of time reviewing all the new words. I apologize that they don't have their homework plans this week. They have been having a lot of tests in other classes, and I was absent from school on Saturday. Because this week is a short week, we are doing the work in class and if something is left unfinished, I ask the students to finish the work at home.
Students are well aware of their homework.
Everyone must have pages 10, 11 and 13 completed in their workbook. This half of the unit deals with housework.
We are now moving on with comprehension. In both sections, we started reading "Cinderella". We read it once as a class, and once with just me reading it aloud. They seemed to enjoy hearing the story!
Tomorrow, each section will compose a list of words that they didn't understand from "Cinderella" (page 12 and 13 in the Pupil's book)
On Thursday, I would like section 4B to come to class with page 12 of their WORKBOOK COMPLETED! Section 4A is already finished with this page.
Please expect a test on UNIT 2 sometime next week. It will focus a lot on the vocabulary, and it will focus on comprehension.

What do you look like?
We worked on page 4 in our workbooks today. I would like students to know the difference between : "What do you like?" and "What do you LOOK like?"
Students! Look at this question and look at the answers :
What do you like?
-I like to play football
-I like to eat pizza
-I like English
And now look at this question : What do you look like?
-I have brown eyes
-My hair is short and curly
-I am really tall
Do you see the difference? :)
On Page 4, we talked about the three people in the picture : Tim, James and Marie
We did the first one together :
Tim has got short, brown curly hair. He's wearing black pants and a t-shirt. (Remember that "pants" are the same as "trousers")
I would like students to finish that exercise and work on "James" and "Marie". Please have this finished for tomorrow!!

Welcome to your 2nd Week of School!!
4A : I was very disappointed in the class behavior today :( PLEASE remember that how you behave really affects your grade. I write down who is behaving well and who is not. Remember that class behavior is 20 points every single day!!!!!
Please bring your Workbooks to class tomorrow! We will do Page 4 in class.
4B : Please think about your behavior points. We will finish Page 4 in your Workbook tomorrow.
In class we started Lesson 1. We read Page 4 from the Pupil's Book.
NOW! I want you all to think of "What You Look Like"
Think about these questions : What color are YOUR eyes? What color is your hair? Is it short? Is it long? Is it curly? Think about what you look like! Are you tall ? Do you have blond hair?
Think about this : How can you describe yourself? (*describe = to talk about something)
Can you describe your mom? Your dad? Look at what they are wearing! What is your mom's favorite color? What about your father's favorite color?
When you describe yourself, think about colors! Think about what you like to do! Also think about what you don't like to do. You can also describe your clothes! What are you wearing right now?
Think about what you wear:
-Pants / Trousers
-Shirts
-T-shirts
-Shorts
-Dresses
-Shoes
-Sneakers

It's a new month! Here is what we did today and yesterday in class.
FOR BOTH 4a and 4b :
Students : I hope you liked the "Apples Apples" Poem! I want you to understand the difference between a story and a poem. Think about rhyming words. Look at these words for example:
See how these words rhyme? Practice with more words!
**In class we made cards. In each card students wrote down a personal promise for them, but also for me, an for you (parents). They wrote "I will be THE BEST I can be!" . This is their behavior card. If they are in their best behavior, students will receive a 20/20 for their daily behavior grade, and on the back of the card, they receive a star.
Behavior Warnings are as follows :
Fighting - 0/20
Talking, shouting, not raising hands - X
If you receive more than 3 X's in a period, I will talk to the student's parents and to Ms. Rania.
4A : You got a worksheet today in class! You had to underline all the nouns in the sentence! Many of you did a very very good job with that. Tomorrow, I will give you your worksheets back, and we will practice with Verbs.
Please come to class with colored pencils if you can!
I gave you a worksheet with "Action Verbs" and you had to circle the verbs. Tomorrow you will get a worksheet on nouns. Nouns are not actions! We will practice more with this tomorrow :)

more - core - sore - bore
See how these words rhyme? Practice with more words!

I want to remind students about NOUNS and VERBS. You need both for an English sentence!! I want you to know that Verbs are ACTIONS and Nouns are places, things, people, animals or names. 4A : You got a worksheet today in class! You had to underline all the nouns in the sentence! PARENTS
This week I wanted to welcome students with an easy poem, and review a little bit of grammar. Next week, we will start using the Bright Star books. We will also do more comprehension and writing exercises.

Welcome Back to School!
A big big, biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig welcome back to all my students!!! And a bigggg Mabrook for your first day of 4TH GRADE!!!!
I hope all of you had a fantastic summer! I missed you so much and I am very very happy to be back and to be your English teacher for this year! It was absolutely wonderful to see all of you :)
BOTH 4A and 4B
Students : Please read the packet that I gave you in class with your parents.
Parents : In class, I gave every student a packet with 4 pages with information about our class. In it you will find, classroom rules and expectations as well as the grading policy for English. Please make sure that your student has 3 notebooks (copy notebook, vocabulary notebook, and dictation notebook) and a folder for English. I will give many worksheets! I don't want students to lose their papers!
Please read the information and please let me know if you have any questions.
**I will be strict on grading this year, and students MUST try their best and WORK HARD in class!! Please encourage your son and daughter.
** I WILL ALSO HAVE A VERY STRICT BEHAVIOR POLICY. Behavior is 20% of each student's final marks. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FIGHTING IN CLASS! Students will automatically receive a 0 for their daily grade, if there is any fighting. They will also lose points for disruptions in class or breaking any of the classroom rules!
**There is no homework this week. I will, however, give worksheets in class! We will do them in class, and you can study them at home if you want!
